May 16th mile 242 to arrastre creek

Had a nice but cold night since we had camped at 8000 ft. We had another hiker, Jay, join us and is planning on hiking into town with us. We had another easy 16 mile day planned so we would have and easy hike into town tomorrow. Since it was cold and the hike was going to be easy I stuck around in my tent until 900 waiting for it to warm up. The hiking was as usual absolutely gorgeous but was a bit depressing too. We walked past some animal cages with some grizzlies and big cats in them. They were apparently former performance animals for movies and circus and were now in these tiny cages. It was really sad to see. Other than that the trail was uneventful except for all the trail magic. There was almost as much trail magic today as in the entire time in the south on the AT. My favorite was a spot setup by the big bear hostel tgat had a huge locker full of goodies and a couch.
